You wont regret it so long as you have an understanding about some of the linux basics I'd say, although you could get by with the wiki with no prior knowledge as it is excellent! Ubuntu is a great distro for sure, it's what kept me interested in Linux after quite a break from it because of it's general ease of use. But I was ultimately drawn to Arch...still no regrets AT ALL.
