ArchLinux Package Support & Ubuntu PPA Relocation

ArchLinux Package Support

Package support has been present in the AUR for some time now.  All my packages can be found here: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?SeB=m&K=kaivalagi

PPA Relocation

All my script packages have now been copied into the Conky Hardcore PPA. Any package updates will be provided through the efforts of the following team:

  • Kaivalagi
  • Bruce M.
  • MobileDiesel

The ppa can be found here: https://launchpad.net/~conkyhardcore/+archive/ppa

To use this ppa first delete, if you’ve used my scripts before, any of my old ppa files using this:

sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/m-buck*

Then follow the modified first post instructions for the scripts in thier respective Ubuntu Forum threads

Ubuntu -> Arch Linux

I have now switched from Ubuntu to Arch Linux, mainly because of issues I have faced in the past with the 6 monthly upgrade cycle which came to a head with Karmic Koala causing me no end of grief.

Arch uses a rolling release model so I will no longer require big upgrades happening every so often, instead all updates will be incremental and therefore more managable.

All my existing packages, which I supported from Launchpad and therefore provided ppa packages for Ubuntu users to install, have now been successfully setup in the AUR. A post on this in the Arch Linux forums can be found here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=85524

Fiji day for 2009 is soon approaching, and in traditional Norwich Fiji posse fashion, an event has been organised for all friends to attend. The event will be taking place on 10th October 2009, between 12pm and 9pm…click on the below thumbnail to view the full details.

conkyBanshee

I thought as the next Ubuntu release will be switching to use Banshee as the default music player I should create a new conky script to support it…details can be found here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1223883

I added cover art to the available data types, so –datatype=CA outputs the filepath for an image of the albums cover art, this info can be used in conjunction with the ${image} conky function to output the image onto the desktop…

Have fun….

Links to Ubuntu Forum threads

So you have something to read I am posting a bunch of links to my threads on the Ubuntu Forums site, happy tinkering…
